Bérengère Primat with John Riddell
Well known South Australian journalist and former 7 News anchor John Riddell and his wife Heather were fascinated to discover the Foundation Opale dedicated to Australian indigenous art in the middle of the Swiss Alps. Together with Bob and Yuko Harris, they met Bérengère Primat, founder of Foundation Opale, and the Foundation’s Director. Bérengère discovered Australian aboriginal art 20 years ago, and was immediately impressed by the universality of themes from ancient traditions and their modern day relevance. She has visited Australia many times with her family. Only the week before our meeting Bérengère had visited artists in the APY lands of South Australia and Uluru, together with the Director of the Centre Pompidou in Paris, one of the world’s leading Centres for modern art.
John Riddell, journaliste très connu originaire d’Australie du Sud et ancien présentateur de 7 News, et sa femme Heather étaient fascinés par la découverte de la Fondation Opale, dédiée à l’art indigène australien, en plein cœur des Alpes suisses. Avec Bob et Yuko Harris, ils ont rencontré la fondatrice de la Fondation Opale, Bérengère Primat, et le directeur de la Fondation. Bérengère a découvert l’art aborigène australien il y a 20 ans ; elle a été immédiatement impressionnée par l’universalité des thèmes issus des anciennes traditions et par leur pertinence à l’heure actuelle. Elle a visité l’Australie à de nombreuses reprises avec sa famille. La semaine précédant notre rencontre, Bérengère avait rendu visite à des artistes sur les terres aborigènes (APY lands) du Sud de l’Australie et à Uluru, accompagnée du directeur du Centre Pompidou de Paris, l’un des principaux centres d’art moderne au monde.
